Ingredients
Whole Brioche bread, cut into 3/4″ – 1″ slices
5 eggs
1 can evaporated milk
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup whole milk
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp cinnamon
pinch of nutmeg
4 Tbsp butter, melted
Cooking Tools
Large mixing bowl
Baking Dish
Non-stick pan/skillet
Directions
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, evaporated milk, condensed milk, whole milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, melted butter and nutmeg. Place the sliced brioche overlapping in a baking dish to accommodate the sliced bread. Pour whisked ingredients evenly of the slices of bread, press down slightly on the bread for the liquid to get absorbed. Cover the bread and refrigerate for 12 hours. (Great to make the night before) Remove from refrigerator and allow to come to room temperature. Preheat oven to 350 Degrees F, and bake in the oven for 40 minutes. Remove from oven and pour the Banana Foster sauce (recipe below) over the French Toast right before serving.
Banana Foster
Ingredients
2 bananas, sliced
1 stick butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup light brown sugar
1 shot of Cognac
1 cup chopped pecans
Directions
In a skillet, melt butter and sugar on low heat until sugar dissolves. Add vanilla extract and Cognac, cook out the alcohol and the sauce is bubbly. Toss in bananas and pecans and just cook until the banana slices heat through, don’t over cook or the bananas will get mushy. Pour over the French Toast just before serving.
